The sooner you seek restorative dental services, the more you improve the chances of a simple repair and faster recovery! Alan G. Kline, D.D.S. and Associates specialize in restorative dental services at both the Bethesda and Annapolis Maryland locations.
Restorative Dental Fillings
If your tooth enamel is exposed, it may be susceptible to breaking down and causing cavities. We can fill these with natural-looking restoration fillings that are color matched to your tooth. They take about an hour, and then you’re on your way!
Root Canal Procedures
When teeth become infected and painful, they often require a root canal. The pain comes from a diseased nerve in the tooth that we must remove. If the tooth is cracked or broken, you may need a crown. This treatment usually requires two to three trips to the dentist. First, we do the root canal. Then we prep the mouth to receive the crown and give you a temporary crown. We order your permanent crown, which usually takes a few weeks. Then, it’s back to the dentist, and your new crown is inserted and adjusted.
Restorative Dental Repair | Broken, Cracked, or Chipped Teeth
We have several methods of restoring these broken teeth, including Onlays and Inlays, Bonding, Crowns, and Fillings. Bonding is the most conservative way and the least expensive way to treat this problem. A white filling, color matched to your natural teeth, is placed on your tooth and bonds to the tooth’s surface.
A crown takes two to three visits to the dentist and can be a bit expensive. But, if you are showing decay and don’t have enough tooth surface to take a filling, this represents a good option.
Restorative Dental Extractions
When your teeth become broken or have a lot of decay, sometimes an extraction is the best solution. You may be fitted for an implant, but having a conversation with your dentist is the best course of action here. Sedation is commonly offered for this procedure, so let your dentist know your preference. Sometimes an extraction can be done during a regular checkup. Still, your dentist will usually request that you return for another visit later.
Replacing Missing Teeth
Depending on the location and number of missing teeth, we can use various methods, including Crowns, Bridges, Partials, or Dentures. Crowns are typically used to replace one tooth. Suppose you have several teeth that are missing or need extraction. In that case, you may be a good candidate for a Partial, a Bridge, or Dentures. Once your dentist has a chance to evaluate your situation, they will assemble a treatment plan and present it to you!
Digital Impressions
We use the latest technology, using the iTero Intraoral Scanner to produce digital impressions for crowns and bridges. There are several advantages to this modern procedure. It’s fast, saving time while producing accurate, precise impressions. It’s comfortable, not like past procedures, with awkward, messy trays in the mouth. You will be able to see a simulation of your results… your new smile, before you begin your treatment plan.
Periodontal Services
Periodontal services involve treating the teeth to remedy the health of the teeth and gum line. This starts with thoroughly cleaning to remove tartar and plaque buildup under the gum line. This cleaning may involve using a scaler as needed. You may need to have the roots planed so we can smooth the surface of the root. This procedure will allow the healing of the gum tissue so it can reattach to the root.
